My work is sometimes preoccupied with combining both the landscape and still life; both the ‘outside’ and the ‘ inside’ in one picture plane.

I love the test of close observation when working with still life yet enjoy the challenge of making the subject fresh & lively with the use of colour and mark making.

My intention is to create paintings that feel like they have an underlying narrative. As the viewer, I want you to be able to fit yourself into the scene with its familiar still life objects, create your own story, and have the space to think your own thoughts within them.

My representation of the landscape has a deep knowledge gained from years of being surrounded by it; I understand its rhythm through observing the passing of seasons and man’s marks upon the terrestrial.
